Presentation of Microsoft Build 2016

11 April 2016

The presentation of Microsoft Build 2016 in Los Angeles brought together software developers and fans of Microsoft products. It was 76 hours devoted to new devices, upgrade of voice assistant, innovations in the software field, and new technologies. However, no matter how compelling the content, the success of a presentation often hinges on its conclusion. To ensure that your audience leaves with a lasting impression, it’s crucial to understand how to end a presentation with a bang. Summarizing key takeaways, leaving room for audience engagement, or incorporating a powerful call-to-action are effective strategies to conclude on a high note. Just as Microsoft Build 2016 aimed to leave a lasting impact on its attendees, mastering the art of a powerful conclusion ensures that your presentation resonates long after the final slide.

Windows 10

The head of Windows & Devices Division Terry Myerson shared some stats after Windows 10 release:

  • New OS has been installed on more than 270 million devices, with more than 75 billion hours spent on the system.
  • Cortana handled more than 5 billion requests.
  • Users played 6.6 billion hours on Microsoft Xbox.
  • Windows Store has more than 5 billion visits.

At the beginning of the conference, company officials announced that Microsoft Windows Store is to be filled with more quality applications.

Windows Ink pen update enhanced user interaction with applications. The system recognizes handwritten text like “buy dog food on Wednesday,” and also automatically sets reminders for that day.

The Cortana voice assistant understands a task such as sending a particular document, song, or any other file to a friend. Windows Store becomes universal for Windows applications, Win32 applications, and Xbox games.

Windows make friends with Linux

The Unix shell now runs on Windows which should make developers’ life much easier.

Visual Studio becomes universal: created apps may now be installed on Windows 10, iOS, and Android.

“Application converter” lets you run a favorite game, which was developed for an earlier version of the OS, on Windows 10. Xbox received a developer mode in which it is possible to create interfaces.

Microsoft started the delivery of HoloLens to developers on March 30th, 2016. Augmented reality glasses project hologram on real objects, and several people can simultaneously see the same projection. This innovation can find its application in the educational and services fields.

An application for HoloLens, through which users can explore the universe is already in the public domain with the source code.
