2015 at NIX Solutions: the Highlights
New Year is the time to review the past 365 days and remember all the bright events and results we shared with each other.
The year 2015 was fruitful for gaining new knowledge: the latest technologies, methodologies, conferences. Everything we learned, we practiced in development and management.
Let us look at the year with all of its learning, work, and fun from the very beginning.
Winter
Winter holidays provided a lot of energy and our WordPress developers embodied their dream — they held the first WordPress Meetup conference in Kharkiv.
Cold February became warmer on Valentine’s Day filled with cards and kind words to friends, colleagues, and beloved ones.
The first big workshop took place at our lounge hall. Two days of Ember. JS training resulted in creating a new app for music sharing.
Spring
NIX spring was rich with various IT events.
Our experts visited the Kharkiv National University of Economics to hold a lecture about career possibilities in IT for students in the Foreign Affairs department.
We ran a Sync.Net conference for our developers and shared useful information and wide experience with participants of the 11th ThinkPHP conference.
NIX Java experts participated in JPoint-2015 conference in Moscow.
Our team gained a lot of new knowledge about usability, UX, and product development at ProfsoUX-2015 conference in St. Petersburg.
While our developers were improving their skills at conferences, NIX recruiters were looking for new talents at job and career fairs.
Meanwhile, NIX soccer teams demonstrated their best skills in the spring round of the IT league. Supported by colleagues, our sportsmen won gold medals in Senior and Junior leagues.
NIX paintball team “Bomba” kept up the pace and won medals too. The outstanding performance provided them with the second line in Kharkiv Paintball League and the Cup of Ukraine in the second division.
Summer
The summer season started with the 2nd ThinkJava conference.
Every year we plan a fun and bright party for the little IT — kids of our employees. It is the day when children explore the place where their moms and dads work.
In July, we studied the effective usage of Scrum and improved project management skills at Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified Scrum Master in Warsaw. NIX experts completed a record number of tasks, learned a lot, and studied interesting case studies. No wonder, our inspired project managers started to use this method and put it into practice at once.
Autumn
The first weekend of autumn probably is the most favorite period of the year at the company. It is the time when we prepare for NIX Solutions’ birthday. This year we celebrated the 21st anniversary with a Native-American-themed party at the company retreat.
Our developers continued learning from the best at the global Java-event SpringOne2GX conference in Washington DC and at DroidCon 2015 in Moscow. In October, we held the 12th ThinkPHP conference in our hometown.
This autumn, we visited several job and career fairs at the University of Economics, the University of Radioelectronics, and the University of Kharkiv. Our recruiters found a new talent who has already joined the NIX Solutions team. We are happy that our piece of advice helped them start their career in IT!
DEV Intersection conference in Las Vegas was one of the significant events of this autumn. We combined our wide experience in app development and knowledge from the DEV Intersection conference into Sync .NET#1 reports. Now teddy raccoons from the first meeting of Sync .NET community are watching our work and inspiring us to hold new .NET conferences :).
The year 2015 finished with the great and amazing performance of Circus de NIX where 1500 of our employees celebrated the coming of the New Year.
For each of us, the year 2015 brought pleasant little things, bright moments, and brilliant achievements. We thank our team for this captivating, colorful, and crazy year!
