Whatever You Can Imagine
We Can Deliver
uPackingList application is designed to turn packing into fast and convenient activity for any journey – business trip, vacation, family picnic, fishing, Disney Land etc.
Now uPackingList app is also available for Android and bada mobile platforms.
You can easily create lists of necessary items and control packing process. Update your packing list whenever you think you need yet another thing to take. You can create and maintain an unlimited number of lists and use a built-in items catalogue, which is simply customizable per your needs. Besides of the things a list can include the task you need to complete before leaving. This way the preparation for your travel will get simpler – just check every item you packed and no detail will be lost.
In the 1.8.2 version we have presented the new feature for the export/import of the List and Catalogue that allows you to create the List on iPad and then export it to iPhone. Try this feature using the guidelines below.
For export/import between devices via bluetooth you should make the following actions:
For export/ import using iTunes file sharing you should perform the following actions on the first device:
Any suggestions regarding functionality, content and future updates are warmly welcomed and will be processed promptly: uSupport@nixsolutions.com

10:55 pm
Good evening,
I very much like the app and i use it often as i travel a lot for bussiness. It would be a great improvement if you could create the list on the pc en load them through itunes on the iphone.
Best regards,
Lex Brons

Great thanks for the reply. We’ll explore the possibility to edit pack list at the desktop and we’ll do our best to add it in the next release. By the way, in the latest version we’ve added the import-export of catalogue and pack lists through iTunes. Hope you’ll like it.
10:07 am
Hi. I just bought this app for the iPad and it is great! I have one suggestion, when you are ready to pack your list, can you give an option to keep the list in categories. I find it easier to keep my packing organized rather than one long list that is in alpha order. Thanks again for a great app! – Emily :)
6:28 pm
Hi, Emily! Glad you enjoy our application. We have just released uPakingList version 1.8.3. Though it doesn’t maintain the feature you have mentioned we’d like to know your opinion about it.
I guess you are quite right about using categories for the pack list and we’ll think how to implement it in the future updates.
10:20 pm
I was trying to use bluetooth between my iphone and ipad and export a list from one device to the other.
No luck: both were showing upackinglist in the bluetooth window, I tried to pick one, but the other was not cooperating…
or I got the message “lost connection”
How should I use it?
Thanks
10:30 pm
P.s.
why I see uPackingList in both devices?
You should add the possibility to recognize which device
11:43 am
Hello, iPhoneUser.
Before the latest release we have tested the application with the different devices iPhone/iPod/iPad and the file export-import worked flawlessly. But we’ll check it once more to find the problem. Meanwhile you may try “File Sharing” in iTunes to export lists between devices.
Great thanks for suggestion about the device identification for the application. We’ll add this feature in the next version for you to enjoy our app even more.

I have tried to use several packing apps now (3 others) until I stumbled across yours. While overall I was ok with the others, I didn’t love any of them, and NONE of them helped me with my biggest issue: I want to be able to use the same app on both iPad and iPhone. That is what brought me to you.
I bought your app because it was a full iPad app and because you advertised some capapbility to import/export across devices.
Overall, I am very please with your app at many levels (3-4 star happy, and I am tough grader). I do have several suggestions which would make this app a 4-5 star app for me:
1. Improve the ability to sync lists between iPad and iPhone (or other devices). As another reviewer mentioned, iphones are great, but hard to create full lists on something so small. It was a breeze on the iPad. But your import/export feature using Bluetooth is buggy. It transferred the Master list over fine, but none of the items I had chosen exported despite multiple attempts.
2. Syncing via a cloud (mobileme or others) would be ideal. I have started only using apps that have such capability. Allows me to use apps in both places, while also knowing I have saved the data someplace else as well.
3. Totally concur that some PC/Mac way of entering items would be fantastic, but I would suggest a web based methodology (a la Evernote). That way, you are not platform or computer limited. That would be the best and would eliminate need for #2.
4. Work on the three things above make your app “big time”! Other little things which would be nice, but not critical: more icons, ability to have more than one open packing list at a time, ability to see open packing list as folders you can open one at a time. Again, none of these are critical, just nice to haves…
Good luck!
11:03 am
Hello, Dean
It’s such a pleasure to have so concerned users! Love all you suggestions. Thanks you have mentioned the exact problem with import/export feature as we are working on its fixing and any information is helpful.
We’ll continue our work to get more 4-5 stars for our app!
Best regards.
6:58 pm
Please focus on live iCloud updates. When you need a list you are likely to pack over several days for a single event and will likely have different devices at different times. An update on one should appear on the other similar to other apps like calendar, reminder, etc.
6:01 pm
Thank you, Jay, we appreciate your feedback.
And we take into account your suggestion.
8:52 pm
I really like the free app, and put work into that list. I decided to upgrade to the paid app and then transfer the list I had been working on. No luck. Tried transferring to Mac an then to iPad, tried transferring between apps on the same iPad, tried transferring between iPod and iPad, still no luck. I’m sure it’s a much easier process than what I am trying, but without any instructions or tips I have been totally unsuccessful and am now just gonna stick with the free app since I have already put all that time into my list.
3:33 pm
Hello Eric!
To make import/export of your catalog and lists you should know iOS version on your device.
* If iOS is up to 3.1.3 you should go to “Settings” (top right button on the Home screen) and choose Import/Export, then choose “export” in Free version and “import” in the Full one accordingly.
* If you have device with iOS 3.2 (iPad) or 4.0 (iPhone) and higher – use the same path in the uPackingList app and then – the “File sharing” section in iTunes (in the “Apps” tab in your device).
Please let us know if you’ll have further questions.
2:15 am
Hi,
So what exactly is the difference between the free app and the 1.99 app?
Thanks
11:09 am
Hello, Cyndy.
Thank you for the question as it might be interesting for many users.
First of all the $1.99 app version is free of any advertisement that may irritate you sometimes.
All the updates, new items and features we present constantly are available only in the $1.99 app. So if you’d like to try the new features of uPackingList just update to $1.99 version.
Good luck,
Your iPhone Development Department.
11:47 pm
Hi, just got your app for the iPad and like it. I would like to see the ability to add new categories. For example I’m a photographer and a scuba diver. For organizing dive or photo trips, it would be nice to set up specific categories. For Icons, perhaps you can expand a library or else just grab an image and paste it in…
11:50 am
Hello Jamie,
Glad you liked our iPhone app. I must say that you can create your own category. You can do it using Edit mode. See the Edit button in the upper right corner.
However custom category icon isn’t available at the moment but we’ll think about implementing this feature in future.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Your iPhone Development Department.
4:35 am
Hi, this is a very nice app!
I need to put the quantity and it doesn’t work on free app!
Is it possible in paid app?
Tks
11:26 am
Hi, Alberto!
Yes, you are right. It’s possible to add quantity in the paid version of the app. Also you can add a photo and note for every item, change the font picture, etc.
Paid app gives you opportunity to use all the available features and to get the latest updates.
Best Regards,
Your iPhone Development Department.
10:40 am
Just bought the app. Trying to export via bluebooth and iTunes file sharing. Not able to export either way. Please advise.
7:24 pm
Hello Toby,
We’ve have updated the current page and now you can find the guidelines for export/import of the files in the description of the application, right after app’s features.
3:20 am
Will the Iphone and Android apps sync with each other?
7:49 pm
Currently it’s against Apple’s policy to implement the synchronization of the applications between mobile platforms of different vendors. But perhaps it will change and the synchronization will appear.
11:26 am
hi guys, great app. i tried others but none equal this one. I would like to mention one thing though. I’m on iphone4 with iOS 4.1.
I have a problem with the delete item. Lets say: i create a new list called “TRAVEL”. I delete the item cigarettes because i don’t smoke.
It disappears from current list. But when I start a new list from the scratch lets say “TRIP”, fro my friend who is smoking, the cigarettes item is not there anymore. I tried to change the setting: current list/All lists but no success. Maybe you can help me to solve my problem or change this for the next release. It would be nice to have the possibility to reset everything. The only way to do it now, as i can see, is to erase the program from my iphone and reinstall it again, which is not good.
Another suggestion: it would be nice to be able to search among the comments in an tem of a list.
thx, keep the good work.
3:26 pm
Hi,
Glad you enjoyed our app. Although we must admit the problem you describe is the bug in the current version of the app and we are working on its fixing. Guess this bug will be eliminated in the next release.
Thank you for your concern.
8:25 pm
Hi, I am having a lot of trouble understanding import/export between devices, and the Master Cataloge settings, and where you get the contents of a “new list from scratch” from. You should have very detailed documentation for your features; they should explain in detail the steps for an action, the results for an action, and why the step is important. What you provide for device to device import/export is not nearly detailed or clear enough. When you create documentation you need to write for the person who has never used these devices, then you will have supported all levels of user. For example, in the device to device steps you provide on this web site, you need to differentiate the two devices involved: the one importing, and the one exporting; and you need to show the interleaved steps on each, and the expected result of each step.

12:36 pm
Hello, Wayne!
Thank you for your concern and tips for improving the documentation of the app. After we implemented the import/export feature our users had suggested us to add we have find out that usage of the app became slightly more complicated. We provide the support to our customers here on our website, on twitter and on number of forums about iPhone applications.
Due to your suggestions we’ll gather all the information about the app to provide the comprehensive documentation here and in the app.
Best regards!
9:20 pm
Like the App. Sync may be easier if a list file could be e-mailed and then opened in other device rather than just a print version. Bluetooth is often unreliable. It would be helpful if you included more documentation in the help folder.
12:26 pm
Hi Barry,
We are currently working on the capability to e-mail the list so that it can be opened on another device like the imported one. This feature will be available in one of the next releases.
Documentation for the app will be added too, perhaps not in the app at first but as a separate file.
Thanks for your concern.
10:22 pm

Please fix this soon!
12:21 pm

11:34 am
Hi,
Have problems exporting list in free version to import into paid version I just purchased. I have connected to iTunes
And exported the free packing list which confirms export but it doesn’t show up in the import part in iTunes
So I can”t import it……any ideas?
Steve
12:03 pm
Hi, Steve
The import/export described on this page above serves for the applications that are installed on different iDevices not different versions of the app.
In your case you should do the following actions:
(uPackingList App Guidelines for Users, p.19)
When transferring the List between two versions of the app iTunes is not in the play.
This and other helpful guidelines can be found in uPackingList App Guidelines for Users
7:06 am
One feature that seems to be requested frequently is cloud based synchronization of the same list on different devices. If you have a look at ourGroceries it work wonderfully because of this feature. I can modify a list on my Android phone and my wife can shop on the way home on her iPhone with only a very simple setup after installation. The ability to modify the lists online is also possible through a web browser though I mostly use my phone.
Is this sort of feature/infrastructure planned for uPackingList? Given the difficulty of getting gmail’s tasks lists to work across phones and web browser you may have a new market opportunity too.
12:59 am
I agree with Jason’s comments (6-8-11) about having a syncing function… possibly by accessing a file on Dropbox as some other apps are doing to facilitate shared use between multiple devices (i.e. an iPhone and iPod Touch, or, between two iPhone users).
This really an awesome app and having a sync feature would make it even cooler!!
Thanks–
2:53 pm
Hi Rob,
Yes, that would be great.
We will try to implement this feature
4:12 am
I’ve been shopping for the perfect packing app. Seems that I may just have found it in yours. I’m about to buy it now. I’d like to say how impressed I was with your answer to each person’s comments and requests! Great customer service, that is the main thing that swayed me to go with your app! =)
1:00 pm
Thank you Karen,
We hope our app will be useful to you! Let us know if you have any questions, we will be glad to help.
4:34 am
Using upacking list and enjoying it greatly, well done. A suggestion would be to supply more instructions within the app, finding check boxes ( would be useful to uncheck all for next pack) and packing icon a little non intuitive, a simple step by step list example would be awesome. Thanks and good luck!
12:52 pm
Hello Joan,
We thank you for choosing and using our uPackingList app.
We will consider your suggestion.
7:52 am
app is crashing on my ipad after ticking last of final few items on packing list, this has just started, any help would be appreciated, thanks
5:26 pm
Hello Joan,
Thank you for letting us know.
We might be able to help you with the problem, but we need to know what iOS version you are currently running on your iPad? And what version of the app you are using? Free or Paid?
Hopefully the developers will sort it out as quickly as possible.
3:49 pm
Thank you for a very nice APP, I use the paid version.
I have some comments suggestions for your suggestion BOX:
When you edit a category/item and when you change quantity in item you should return the user to the same place he was and not collapse all the categories.
iCloud is a must.
Make list editable, xls or text delimited or let us import the files to your web site and edit them there and save them back to our computer to import to the app.
thank you
2:34 pm
Hello,
Thank you for your suggestions. We will consider your request.
Now we are thinking of using iCloud. There are many advantages to the cloud sync.
So we working to add iCloud support to a future version.
7:32 am
Great that iCloud is on the progress….looking forward of the update.
11:21 pm
uPackingList is great. I have the paid version and was using it on my iPhone until I purchased the iPad. Great to read that the iCloud Sync is up and coming. I think the last update was back in February. I was looking for another app like this one, that automatically syncs, but couldn’t find one that I liked better, so I’ll wait until the update comes.
10:53 am
Hello Mona,
Thank you for your feedback!
Now you can import or export created items lists and catalogs between different iPad/iPod/iPhone devices via Bluetooth.
Open the uPackingList app on two different iPhones/iPads/iPods devices.
Go to the export/import settings on the exporting device and click “Via Bluetooth”.
Choose the target device from the list that appears.
Tap the items list or catalog you want to export form the device.
A special window will open on the device you are importing to.
There you can choose to import the List or Catalogue or cancel the import.
The iCloud Sync will appear in one version, unfortunately not in the next version.
8:15 pm
iCloud is going to have to be used. iPhones and iPads cannot be linked via Bluetooth, much to my dismay. Please update soon!!
2:15 pm
i am pleased with your app on the iPad, and was excited to try export to the iPhone via Bluetooth, I was able to transfer lists, however they were getting combined, I don’t understand, I tried several different times and always ended up with at least one out of three lists including all of my items in the catalogue. frustrating. joel
5:40 pm
Nice app but it looses all the comments I put in on my list. I put in discription and serial number and when I close the app and restart it later….all the data on comments is gone…
6:23 pm
Hello, Ken.
What comments do you mean? Item description?
Also we need to know what device and the firmware version you are using.
5:15 am
I bought this thru itunes and now when I go to update it wants me to buy again! Why??
Sheri
2:38 pm
Hello Sheri,
You do not need to re-purchase the app that you’ve already owned.
If this problem occurs, you should contact Apple iTunes Store support.
3:38 am
In all item item information using iPhone 4S any information I place in the comment area or infact the quantity area and saved will be deleated when the app is closed then opened later.
1:36 pm
Hello Ken,
Thank you for letting us know. I gave your information to developers.
Hopefully we will sort it out as quickly as possible.
1:51 am
Hi,
I’ve been using the paid version in iPad for quite a while now. I am happy with the app in all but one area. No real possibility to share data with other platforms. It would be great to have cloud backup and cross platform sync. I just recently realised you have an android version.
Having Dropbox integration on both platforms, I’d immediately buy a paid android version for my phone.
2:11 pm
Hello TK,
We are working on a sync tool right now. Dropbox will be the one of the initial systems to work with.
8:48 pm
Great, I can hardly wait.
4:45 pm
After installing so many applications on my phone and Ipod, I fell in love with yours. It is great! I have only two problems. I own an Android phone, a Motorola Tablet and an Ipod Touch 5g. I have the application on all three devices. I would like a signon to this application in order to see the same information on all three devices. Bluetooth doesn’t work on non Apple products. I need a way also to email the list without adding anything to it. The only way I can email a list is if I start packing. Thanks for all your great work. I can’t wait to go on vacation to try it out. xoxoxo
6:29 pm
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in uPackingList app.
We are already working on the synchronization between multiple devices. So this feature will be available in next versions.
As for Bluetooth sync uPackingList app already has it.
Go to Settings and choose Import/Export, then “via Bluetooth”.
